How to disable the lock screen in Windows 8

H

When you start your computer, you get a lock screen before you can enter your password. On a desktop PC, that’s definitely not necessary. In this post, I will show how to disable the lock screen in Windows 8 or 8.1.

First, press the windows-key + R, a box will appear. Then you type gpedit.msc

gpedit

A window will open. Then navigate to Computer Configuration -> Administrative Tools -> Control Panel -> Personalization in the left pane of that window. Then click on Do not display the lock screen on the right pane. If you cannot find that, go to User Account instead of Personalization

When you double-clicked the ‘Do not display the lock screen‘, a new window shows up. Select enabled, click OK and you’re good to go. Enjoy!
